How Can You Tell a Marketing Campaign Will Be a Success?

Creating a viral marketing campaign is every marketer's dream. While it is possible to create successful campaigns, it's not without challenges. From fierce competition to ads that don't perform, determining the viability of your marketing efforts may feel like a second job. However, even with so much pressure to perform, there are ways you can determine if your marketing campaigns measure up.
Analytics
By far, analytics is the best way to gauge how well your campaign is performing. Just about every social media platform has built-in analytics, giving you a wealth of free information. From those insights alone, you can determine the reach of your campaigns, monitor impressions, verify click-through rate and gauge your return on investment.
Testing
Not performing A/B testing is no different than setting your ad expenditures on fire. A/B testing gives businesses insight into which ads are performing the best, which demographic was most receptive and where areas of your campaigns need to be reworked. In testing, 1-to-1 matching is recommended. But A/B testing is not something new. The act of testing existed even before the internet was invented. Direct marketers would use mailings and compare the response by how many people contacted them after they received them in the mail. Flash forward to now, and digital marketing has taken the world by storm. We can now market globally and in a blink of an eye, measure return on investment, or the lack of, from the comfort of our phones. With A/B testing, you can test different variations of the same ad to determine which performs the best while keeping costs low.
Set Your Budget
Even the most comprehensive marketing campaigns can underperform if there's no budget. In addition to researching, planning, and A/B testing, marketers need to ensure they stay within their budget. Set the parameters prior to launching your campaign and routinely verify how your ads are performing. You can use metrics to determine where your marketing efforts need refining. If your campaign isn't performing, you can test again by using different variables to see which variation performs the best.
In a world of marketing budgets that can exceed millions, knowing whether your campaign should be your focus. Having a campaign for the sake of having a campaign isn't the answer. Determine your budget, test with proven methods such as A/B testing and use analytics to supplement your findings. It never hurts to have too much information when it comes to your business's bottom line.
